May 19, 1919 is the starting date of the National War of Independence and the subsequent foundation of the Republic of Turkey, which is secular, democratic and based on the rule of law.

The Republican regime and Atatürk's revolutions, considering the difficulties experienced and the reasons that brought them about, have drawn a very important path for our nation, the foundations of a modern education and economy were laid, cultural and artistic activities were accelerated, modern institutions and a legal system were established, and thus the infrastructure for today's Türkiye's successes was prepared. Atatürk's ideals and revolutions continue to guide us today.

Atatürk presented May 19 to the youth and gave the youth the duty of protecting and preserving the Republic. He expressed this in his address to the youth as follows:

“O Turkish youth, your first duty is to preserve and defend Turkish independence and the Turkish Republic forever. This is the sole foundation of your existence and future. This foundation is your most precious treasure.”

Undoubtedly, the ability of Turkish youth to fulfill such a responsibility depends on the provision of quality education, the establishment of an infrastructure for arts and sports, and the equal opportunity basis for all young people to benefit from these opportunities.

Within this scope, as the Russian Turkish Businessmen's Union, we state that we are aware of the importance of this struggle, revolutions and youth on the 106th anniversary of Atatürk's arrival in Samsun, and we celebrate the 19th of May Atatürk Commemoration Youth and Sports Day.
